Dual Language Program

A Two-Way Dual Language Immersion Program is provided at Montezuma ES.   This is a bilingual education program for language minority and majority students.  One class in each grade level provides instruction in Spanish and in English.
The Montezuma ES Two-Way Dual Language Immersion Program utilizes the following continuum of instruction:

  • Kindergarten       80% Spanish language instruction  10% English language instruction
  • 1st Grade            80% Spanish language instruction  20% English language instruction
  • 2nd Grade           70% Spanish language instruction  30% English language instruction
  • 3rd-5th Grade     50% Spanish language instruction   50% English language instruction

Participation in this program is by parental request; however, because of the amount of Spanish language instruction in kindergarten, English-speaking students usually only enter the program in kindergarten.
